February 24, 7:30 pm Hear one of the world's foremost environmental economists present his bold plan to cut carbon emissions 80 percent by 2020, at a cost of about one-sixth of the current global military budget. Lester Brown has been called "one of the world's most influential thinkers" by the Washington Post. He founded the Worldwatch Institute, and has received scores of prestigious awards and honorary degrees, including the United Nations Environmental Prize and the MacArthur Foundation "genius award." According to E.O. Wilson, "Lester Brown is one of the pioneers and heroes of global environmentalism. If the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize had been extended to a third recipient, the logical candidate would have been Lester Brown." He is president of the Earth Policy Institute.
